
CT Tigers Take Advantage of ValleyCats Errors

Troy, NY "" The Connecticut Tigers defeated the Tri-City ValleyCats 9-3 Saturday night at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium. The ValleyCats committed seven defensive errors in the game. The Tigers used the ValleyCats mishaps to their advantage as they were able to score five runs off of the errors committed by Tri-City. 1B Jacob Kapstein (2-4) was a big contributor for the offense with three RBI's in the game.
Following a two run four hit performance from the team on Friday Night, the Tigers offense bounced back on Saturday with a team total 14 hits and nine runs scored. Each starter in the lineup contributed at least one hit. RF Ismael Salgado (3-5) had a pair of singles along with a double and an RBI. SS David Gonzalez (2-6) and CF Rashad Brown (2-6) each added a pair of hits to go along with offensive surge.
The Tigers used four pitchers to combine for a nine inning victory Saturday night as they allowed three runs on four hits. RHP Johan Belisario (1-0) picked up the win for the Tigers as he came on in relief of starter RHP Fernando Perez (0-0). Belisario pitched two scoreless innings and did not give up a hit.
The Tigers and ValleyCats wrap up their three-game series tomorrow evening. In the series finale, Connecticut RHP Tanner Bailey (0-0) is slated to face off against Tri-City LHP (0-0) Blaine Sims. Pregame radio coverage begins at 4:45 p.m. on AM 1310 WICH and online at www.cttigers.com.
