Hudson Valley Renegades News Release
Wappingers Falls, NY - With two outs and a runner on third in the bottom of the eleventh inning, Coty Blanchard gave the Renegades their second walk off win in as many nights, as he lined a single to right field, scoring the hustling Elias Torres. With the victory, Hudson Valley improves to 2-0 this season, as they've taken down the IronBirds in spectacular fashion two nights in a row.
Enderson Franco was electric in his first action as a member of the Tampa Bay Rays organization. The right-handed pitcher tossed 5 solid innings in his first start of the 2014 season. On the evening, he surrendered just one unearned run, on five hits, while striking out six.
The Hudson Valley bullpen chipped in with 3 relievers, as Darren Fischer, Gerardo Reyes and Joshua Kimborowicz combined for six total innings, with eight strikeouts and only two earned runs. Kimborowicz earned the win as he shut Aberdeen down in the final two frames of the game. Allowing just one hit, one walk and no earned runs.
Hunter Lockwood, the hero of last night's contest, went deep for the second time in two games. Leading off in the home half of the fourth inning, he deposited a pitch from Stephen Tarpley over the wall in left field. Bralin Jackson also connected on his first home run of the season, as he led off the top of the third with a long drive to left-center field.
With Hudson Valley up 3-2 heading into the top of the ninth, Hector Veloz reached on a standup double down the left field line. He was later singled in by Ronarsy Ledesma, who was responsible for both Aberdeen RBI's.
Elias Torres led off the bottom of the eleventh with an infield single, and scored on Blanchard's RBI single. Torres picked up two base hits in the game, and scored two of the 'Gades three runs.
