Tri-City ValleyCats News Release
TROY, NY - After the Tri-City ValleyCats led a majority of their game on Friday night, they were unable to close it out, losing to the Hudson Valley Renegades 4-3 at The Joe.
The 'Cats led from the very start, when Gilberto Celestino brought home Enmanuel Valdez with a single to give Tri-City a 1-0 lead in the first inning.
After Hudson Valley got a run back to tie the game in the fourth inning, the Renegades then took the lead in the sixth on a solo home run by Chris Betts that made the score 2-1 Hudson Valley.
In the next half inning, both Valdez and Austin Dennis each drove home a run with base hits that gave the ValleyCats a 3-2 lead.
That advantage would stick all the way until the ninth inning.
Ian Hardman squandered the 'Cats' one-run lead when the Renegades scored on a wild pitch with the bases loaded to tie the game at 3-3.
Luis De Paula then came on to end the inning, but he allowed the go-ahead run to score on a wild pitch that made the score 4-3 Hudson Valley.
The ValleyCats were unable to rally in the bottom of the ninth, losing their third straight game and falling to .500 with a record of 7-7.
The 'Cats will look to salvage the series finale of their meeting with the Hudson Valley Renegades on Saturday night, when they close out the homestand on Star Wars Night at The Joe.
First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m., with coverage beginning on the Tri-City ValleyCats Radio Network with Steven Cusumano 15 minutes prior to the start of the game.
