Ontario Reign News Release

ONTARIO, Calif.- The Ontario Reign, proud affiliate of the NHL's Los Angeles Kings lost for the first time in seven contests to the Utah Grizzlies Friday night in front of a crowd of 5,761 at Citizens Business Bank Arena.

The first period was scoreless with a total of 13 shots on goal from both teams. Chris Carrozzi made seven saves for Ontario while Jimmy Spratt stopped six for Utah. The Reign's league-leading penalty-kill unit successfully kept the Grizzlies out of the net for 2:31 penalty minutes and headed into the second period with 1:29 left to kill.

Eight minutes into the second period Logan MacMillan took advantage of traffic infront of the Reign net and poked the puck in giving the Grizzlies a 1-0 lead. Ryan Turek and Nick Tuzzolino picked up the assists for the goal. With less than three minutes left in the second, Turek picked up a pass from Mitch Fadden in the middle of the Reign end and sent a hard shot past Carrozzi bringing the score to 2-0. Despite killing off the third penalty of the game, Ontario remained scoreless through the period.

Ontario went on the power-play at the 16:23 for a highsticking penalty against the Grizzlies. At the 12:00 mark of the period, Utah's Tuzzolino was given two minutes for roughing and 15 seconds later, teammate Paul McIlveen joined him in the box giving the Reign a two-man advantage. Reign forwards made the most of the advantage passing the puck through the Grizzlies end when Geoff Irwin took control and shot it high past Spratt's blocker side extending the forward's point streak to six games. Brady Calla and Kyle Kraemer assisted on the play extending their point streaks as well; Calla is now on a three-game assist streak, and Kraemer is on a five-game point streak.

Although Ontario outshot Utah, they couldn't come back from the two-goal deficit in time to win the game. Carrozzi took the loss stopping 24 of 26 shots and Spratt took the win stopping 34 of 35 shots.
