Trenton Titans News Release

WHEELING, W.VA. - Try as they might, the Trenton Titans battled the Wheeling Nailers all game again, but ended with a 4-2 loss Saturday night before 3.021 fans at Wesbanco Arena Saturday night.

With the win, the Nailers (27-16-2-2-58) remain in a first-place tie with the Elmira Jackals, while the Titans, with just a single point in their last seven outings, drop to 15-25-3-4-37.

The Titans' Andy Bohmbach scored a pair of goals - his 14th and 15th - and was awarded the Second Ace of rhe evening.

Wheeling's Peter Mirth opened the scoring with 1:52 remaining in the first period, putting one past Titans goalie Nick Niedert, who gave a credible performance.

The Titans fell behind 2-0 on a Matt Schepke tally 3:31 into the second period, but rallied to tie the game at 2-2 on Bohmbach's two goals. The first came with 9:47 remaining in the second period, the second just 17 seconds into the third as he took advantage of a misplay by Nailers goaltender Peter Delmas. Mitch Versteeg and Rob Bordson assisted in the first goal, Bordson and Matt Germain on the second.

But Wheeling's Denver Manderson, with an assist from Ryan Schnell, scored what turned out to be thev winning goal, off a 3-on-2, 1:08 later. Chupp then added an empty-net goal with eight seconds remaining.

The Titans face the Jackets at 4 p.m. Sunday at the Sun National Bank Center. There will be both a full-team autograph session and a question-and-answer session for fans with Titans President/CEO following Sunday's game.
