Express See Five-Game Win Streak Snapped by Stingrays, 3-2

February 11, 2012 - ECHL (ECHL)
Chicago Express News Release

Duluth, GA - The Chicago Express, proud member of the ECHL and proud affiliate of the NHL's Columbus Blue Jackets, fell to the Gladiators 3-1 at the Arena at Gwinnett Center on Saturday night.

It took the entire first period and 15:26 of the second before the game's first goal was scored. LW Devin DiDiomete found D Scott Wietecha in the high slot, and Wietecha's one-timer trickled through the pads of G Joe Palmer, lifting the Express to a 1-0 lead. The lead only lasted 1:11, before F Pat Galivan gathered a loose puck in the slot and roofed a shot over the glove of G Peter Mannino to even the score at 1-1 before the end of the frame.

After Chicago had a 5-on-3 opportunity of their own in the third period and couldn't convert, Gwinnett made good use of their chance, as Galivan picked up his second of the game with a wrister from the top of the slot, putting the Gladiators up 2-1 with 2:18 left to play in the game. F Joey Hadded capped off the scoring in the contest with 37 seconds remaining as the Gladiators took the 3-1 victory.
