Reign Rematch with Barracuda Tonight on Loma Linda University Children's Hospital Night

Ontario, CA - The Ontario Reign, proud American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League (NHL), welcome the San Jose Barracuda tonight on Loma Linda University Children's Hospital Night at 6:00 PT at Citizens Business Bank Arena. Tonight is the eighth of 12 meetings between the two teams this season.

Budaj Backstops the Reign:

Reign goaltender Peter Budaj recorded his AHL-leading eighth shutout of the season and third consecutive shutout last night making 22 saves in a 1-0 win over the Barracuda. Budaj also leads the AHL in wins (25), goals-against average (1.56), save percentage (.935) and minutes played (2224:25).

For Curious Minds:

The AHL record for the longest shutout streak is 304:11 set by Matt Murray of the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins last season. The longest shutout streak in consecutive team games is 249:51 grabbed by Johnny Bower with the Cleveland Barons during the 1957-58 season. The most shutouts in a single season is 13 set by Jason LaBarbera of the Hartford Wolf Pack during the 2003-04 season. Budaj's streak currently stands at 180 minutes and last gave up a goal on January 27 in overtime to the Stockton Heat in a 2-1 loss.

Sommer Eyes AHL Record:

San Jose Head Coach Roy Sommer (636 wins) is tied for the AHL all-time coaching wins record set by Fred "Bun" Cook. Cook grabbed 636 wins over 19 seasons (1,171 games) from 1937-56.

Mersch Mucks Up Barracuda:

Reign forward Michael Mersch scored the lone goal last night in a 1-0 win over San Jose, is tied for the team lead with three goals against the Barracuda and is now riding a three-game goal scoring streak with four tallies.

Reign are Rolling:

The Reign enter tonight's contest on a season-high eight-game point streak (7-0-1-0) and are currently cruising on a five-game winning streak against San Jose.

Scootin' By:

The last five meetings between the Reign and Barracuda have been decided by one goal.
