BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Ontario Reign, proud affiliate of the NHL Los Angeles Kings, was defeated in the shootout, 4-3, on Wednesday morning. The match saw 4,862 fans come out to Rabobank Arena for the early morning start.

The Condors scored first at 10:22 in the morning game. Defenseman Eric Regan took a shot from the point that sailed over the goal line past Ontario netminder Curtis Darling. Winger Stephane Goulet and center Mathieu Aubin picked up the assists on the goal, which gave the Condors a 1-0 lead.

Ontario answered back just 17 seconds later. Forward Michael Pelech scored his first goal of the season and first career professional goal with an assist from right wing Mike Howe.

Left wing Peter Lenes netted a shorthanded goal for Ontario at 16:12 on a 2-on-1 breakaway. Defenseman Shawn Germain slid a pass across to Lenes, who fired the puck past Condors goaltender Timo Pielmeier on his glove side. Right wing Tim Kraus registered the secondary assist on the goal and the Reign took a 2-1 lead into the second period.

Bakersfield scored the only two goals in the second period and took a 3-2 lead over Ontario. The first Condors goal came 3:50 into the period during a power play, when Mathieu Aubin's first bid bounced off of Darling's right pad and back out to the center, who flipped it up over Darling and into the net. While his club was shorthanded at 13:06, forward Adam Naglich netted his first ever professional goal with an assist from right wing Nick Kemp. Kemp fed a pass out to Naglich ahead of the play, and Naglich threaded a backhander past Darling through the five-hole, giving the Condors a 3-2 lead.

Right wing Tony Voce registered the equalizer for the Reign at 6:53 in the third. Voce's power play shot from the top of the left face-off circle sailed past Pielmeier, and forward Greg Hogeboom and defenseman Jon Landry claimed the assists on what would be the last goal in regulation. The game headed into overtime, but neither club was able to find the back of the net during the five-minute overtime session. All three Bakersfield players managed to beat Darling in the three-round shootout, while none of Ontario's shooters put the puck over the goal line. Ontario came away with one point, but Bakersfield claimed the win in the shootout with a final score of Condors 4, Reign 3.
