Couch Traded To Johnstown For Future Consideration

The Gwinnett Gladiators announced today that defenseman Michael Couch has been traded to the Johnstown Chiefs for future considerations. Couch joins Chris Zarb as the second Gladiators defenseman in recent weeks to be dealt to the Chiefs.

Couch, who originally signed with the Gladiators in August, put up 18 penalty minutes in 11 games with the Gladiators this season. Prior to skating with the Gladiators, the Hanna, Alberta native played two seasons with the Mississippi Sea Wolves, where he appeared in 81 games and posted three goals, 18 assists, and 168 penalty minutes. Before making his pro debut overseas with Torino in 2006, Couch skated two seasons with St. Thomas University and four junior seasons in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

The Gladiators continue their 7th season in the ECHL on Friday, November 20th at South Carolina at 7:05 p.m. The Gladiators are the AA affiliate of the Atlanta Thrashers and Columbus Blue Jackets and play all home games at the 11,355-seat Arena at Gwinnett Center, located just off I-85 on Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth.
