
Salmon Kings And The Greater Victoria Public Library Team Up To Support Literacy

The Victoria Salmon Kings, proud affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks and Manitoba Moose, announced today that they are once again teaming up with the Greater Victoria Public Library (GVPL) to encourage family literacy throughout the 2009-10 season. Player and mascot appearances will happen during the season, and children will be able to obtain a free ticket voucher through the GVPL website.
The Salmon Kings and Marty the Marmot will be making two special visits to GVPL branches throughout the year, beginning with a Wednesday, November 25th appearance at the Saanich Centennial Branch from 4 - 5 p.m. Children are invited to share stories and read with Salmon Kings players and Marty the Marmot! Kids aged 3-11 years old can earn a free child's ticket voucher during the 2009-10 season by using their library card online at www.gvpl.ca. The vouchers may be redeemed at anytime during the 2009-10 regular season The Salmon Kings are also offering parents and legal guardians the chance to purchase a discounted ticket of $14 when redeeming a child's free ticket voucher!
GVPL will also host a table at selected Salmon Kings home games. Visit the GVPL table to receive a Salmon Kings autograph card or to find out more information about the library visits and free ticket vouchers.
The Salmon Kings are currently on the road for three games in Idaho against the Steelheads. The first game goes tonight with the final two games on Friday and Saturday. All games go at 6:10 PT. Victoria returns home to the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre to face the Ontario Reign for a two-game set with matches on Friday, November 27th, and Saturday, November 28th.
