Friday Lunch League Attention all hockey players!
The Checkers Friday Lunch League is back. This is your opportunity to play a game on the same ice as the Checkers. Game time is at noon and $20 gets you 1 ½ hours of hockey and a ticket to that night's game. The schedule for the season is as follows: Nov. 20, Dec. 4, Dec. 18, Jan. 22, Feb. 5, and Mar. 19. "Do Blue Night" and Jersey Auction-
The Checkers have teamed up with Amtrak again this season for six great promotional nights deemed "Do Blue" presented by Amtrak. Wear blue to support your Checkers as they don their special "Do Blue" jerseys throughout the season beginning on Saturday, Nov. 21st. Register at the Amtrak table for your chance to win four tickets to the Carolina Hurricanes game against the New Jersey Devils on Saturday, April 3, 2010 and four round trip vouchers on Amtrak.
Other "Do Blue" dates: Friday, December 4th vs. Elmira; Saturday, December 26th vs. Florida; Sunday, January 17th vs. Kalamazoo; Friday, March 19th vs. Trenton; Sunday, March 28th vs. Reading Stick around after the game on Saturday, Nov. 21st for the Checkers live post-game jersey auction to bid on your favorite players' "Do Blue" jerseys. Players will wear the jerseys throughout the course of the season on the other "Do Blue" dates. Purchased jerseys will be available for pick up following the March 28th game. The Checkers would like to thank Amtrak for sponsoring the Checkers "Do Blue" Nights throughout the season. Additionally, the Checkers would like to thank Smoothie King as a sponsor of the post-game jersey auction. As a result of the collective efforts of the Checkers, Amtrak and Smoothie King, Junior Achievement will receive 100% of the proceeds from the sale of the "Do Blue" jerseys.
Wet your Whistle Weekday and "Man Cave" Promotional Night
Good news fans, Wet Your Whistle Weekdays are back at Time Warner Cable Arena for Checkers weekday games throughout the season. Don't miss the next Wet Your Whistle Weekday featuring $3 - 12 oz. Bud Lights at the Club Level Concession Areas on Wednesday, Nov. 18th at 7 PM as the Checkers host the South Carolina Stingrays. Thanks to Bud Light, the official beer of the Charlotte Checkers.
Stop by the Bud Light "Man Cave" area on the main concourse at each Wet Your Whistle Weekday game as the Checkers unveil their new Man Cave promotion presented by Bud Light. Fans 21 and older will have the chance to register at each Wet Your Whistle weekday game through February 4th 2010 for a chance to win a variety of prizes. Participants who sign up will receive a punch card and one punch for each Man Cave promotional game they attend. The more punches that are accumulated, the more times you will be registered to win the grand prize.
The final drawing will be Wednesday, February 4th. Prizes include a 24" Flat Screen TV, Bud Light Tailgate Chairs, a Bud Light Grooler, NHL Fatheads, Bud Light games including ring toss, backgammon and cards, as well as a framed game worn jersey by the Checkers courtesy of The Frame Warehouse. Checkers Update
Rookies on Fire; Wilky Gets 200th Win
The Checkers picked up 5 of a possible 6 points over the weekend with two wins over Elmira and a shootout loss at the hands of the South Carolina Stingrays. It was a great weekend for rookies as Andrew Carroll scored a goal in each of the three games, Jean-Philipp Chabot scored the game-winner on Sunday and Matt Schepke added four more points. Schepke now has five goals in his last six games. Head coach Derek Wilkinson recorded his 200th win with a win over Elmira on Sunday.
In other Checkers team news, T.J. Reynolds and Jared Nightingale rank second (43) and third (41) in penalty minutes, respectively, among all ECHL defensemen.
Family Sundays
Don't miss the Checkers next Sunday home game this Sunday, November 29th as the Checkers host the Gwinnett Gladiators at Time Warner Cable Arena. Sundays throughout the season are Family Days presented by North Carolina Zoo Asheboro. Look for complimentary zoo coupons at each Sunday game during the 2009-2010 season.
Each Sunday game this season will also feature Family Four Packs, presented by Coca-Cola. Get four tickets, four hot dogs, four Cokes and a free two liter Coke coupon for only $55.
