RedHawks pitchers quiet Beavers bats, strikeout 13

PORTLAND, Ore. - Jarrod Saltalamacchia homered and knocked in three runs and Hernan Iribarren added a two-run shot as the Oklahoma City RedHawks handed the Portland Beavers a 7-1 loss in a rain-delayed game at PGE Park on Saturday night.

Chris Davis went 3-for-4 for the RedHawks (23-19) with a double and a run scored.

Elizardo Ramirez (3-0) won the game for Oklahoma City. He entered the game in the fourth inning in relief of Oklahoma City starter Omar Beltre. Ramirez did not allow a run in 1 1/3 innings, giving up two hits and striking out one.

Portland (18-24) scored its only run on a Luis Durango single to center field in the seventh inning. Craig Stansberry scored from second on the play.

Josh Geer (1-5) took the loss for the Beavers. He gave up five Oklahoma City runs and nine hits, striking out two.

The RedHawks took a 1-0 lead in the first when Esteban German singled, stole second and eventually scored on a Saltalamacchia groundout.

Iribarren cracked his two-run homer to right field in the fifth to extend Oklahoma City's lead to three.

Saltalamacchia knocked in two more Oklahoma City runs with a two-run shot of his own in the sixth.

Durango put the Beavers on the board with his RBI single in the bottom of the seventh.

Mitch Moreland hit an RBI double in the ninth and then scored the RedHawks' final run on an Iribarren single to left field.

The Beavers finish their series against the RedHawks at PGE Park Sunday afternoon at 2:05 p.m. (Pacific).
