LH Michael Ballard (0-0, 10.80) vs. RH Brandon Dickson (0-0, 1.50)

TONIGHT: The RedHawks send lefthander Michael Ballard to the mound in the second of a four-game series with the Memphis Redbirds (St. Louis Cardinals) at AutoZone Park. Four OKC pitchers combined to six-hit Memphis last night in a 7-0 win in the series and road trip opener. Matt Brown hit his first 2 homers as a RedHawk, while Chad Tracy homered and drove in 3 runs. The RedHawks sit atop the American South Division, 1 game up on New Orleans and Albuquerque. Memphis is tied for second in the American North, 3 games back of Nashville. Memphis will start righthander Brandon Dickson. It will be his first career appearance against OKC.

PUTTING UP ZEROS: Last night's 7-0 decision was OKC's second shutout in four games. The current 4-game winning streak began with a Derek Holland-Pedro Strop combined 4-hitter over Round Rock on Tuesday. Last night Guillermo Moscoso went 3 innings as the starter, walking 4 and striking out 3 while using 78 pitches. Geoff Geary followed with 3 innings, matching his own mark for longest OKC relief outing of the season. Geary, the winning pitcher, was followed by Clay Rapada and Elizardo Ramirez in the 6-hitter. The RedHawks' pitching staff is the first in the PCL to have two shutouts in 2010.

TRACKING TRACY: Chad Tracy shares the league lead with 4 home runs, including a first-inning, two-run blast last night. Others with 4 home runs are Nashville's Brendan Katin, Las Vegas' Brett Wallace and Iowa's Jason Dubois. Tracy's .775 slugging percentage is third behind John Lindsey and Jay Gibbons of Albuquerque. Tracy is second in the PCL with 8 extra-base hits (Lindsey has 9) and third in RBIs with 11.

BROWN HITS TWO: Third baseman Matt Brown became the second RedHawk (joining Chad Tracy) to have a 2-homer game when he delivered a pair of solo shots last night. Only twice in all of 2009 did an individual RedHawk have a 2-homer game. OKC had the fewest homers (77) in all of Triple-A last year. The RedHawks have hit 11 home runs in 9 games this year, an average of 1.22 per contest. Should that pace continue, the RedHawks would surpass last year's homer total in game 64, which is scheduled for June 13.

MAXIMIZING: Catcher Max Ramirez has hit safely in 4 straight, going 8-for-14 with 2 RBIs in that span. Ramirez has also reached base by hit or walk in all 7 games he has played.

OFFENSE AMONG LEADERS: OKC's .307 team batting average is second among PCL clubs through 9 games (Albuquerque, .317). The RedHawks' .387 on-base and .505 slugging marks are No. 1. OKC is tied for fifth in runs with 46.

STARTING ANEW: Justin Smoak's 6-game hitting streak ended last night with an 0-for-3 plus a walk. Smoak is still 8-for-22 (.364) over his last 7 games and has a 7-game on-base streak. Hernan Iribarren's 5-game hit streak ended last night with an 0-for-4 plus a walk. Iribarren's on-base streak is 6 games, spanning all in which he's had an at bat. Craig Gentry saw a 5-game hitting streak end last night with an 0-for-5.

DOT...DOT...DOT: the RedHawks have not been out-hit this year...they have collected more hits than the opposition 7 times (5-2) and had an even hit total twice (1-1)....after stealing 1 base in its first 4 games, OKC has swiped bases in 5 straight (2 in each of those games)...OKC has hit into 14 double plays, while turning 4 in the field.

FIELD STAFF BACK: RedHawks skipper Bobby Jones is back for his 10th season in Oklahoma City, the fourth during his current stint. Jones is the winningest manager in OKC's Triple-A history. Pitching coach Terry Clark, hitting coach Scott Coolbaugh and athletic trainer Jason Roberts all return for the second seasons in Oklahoma City. It's year 4 for strength coach Ric Mabie.
