
RedHawks beat T-Bones in Extras for Second Consecutive Night, Win 6-5

Fargo, ND - The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks defeated the Kansas City T-Bones in extras, 6-5, for the second night in a row in walk-off fashion on July 10, 2012 at Newman Outdoor Field in front of a crowd of 3, 771.
Fargo-Moorhead's Ryan Delgado led off the 10th inning with a walk and advanced to third after groundouts by Todd Jennings and Ryan Stovall. With two outs, Mike Mehlich struck out Carlo Cota on a wild pitch but Kansas City catcher Bubby Williams made a throwing error to first, allowing Delgado to score from home and extend the RedHawks winning streak to eight.
The RedHawks were down 5-0 before they began their rally in the eighth. After singles by Zach Penprase and Buddy Sosnoskie, Nic Jackson hit a three run home run over the right field wall to cut the deficit to 5-3.
An RBI single by Nic Jackson and an RBI double by Eric Campbell in the ninth made it a 5-5 game before the RedHawks pulled away with the win in extras.
The T-Bones led 5-0 through seven innings behind a strong effort from starter Luke Irvine. Irvine pitched seven innings in the no decision, giving up three hits with a walk and six strikeouts. Irvine had a no-hitter broken up with two outs in the fifth and retired 13 straight batters starting in the second inning.
RedHawks starter Paul Burnside pitched 6 1/3 innings giving up four earned runs on five hits, two walks with three strikeouts. Mike Zenko, Joe Harris, Kevin Fuqua and Tom Boleska combined to pitch the final 3 2/3 innings giving up an earned run on five hits. Boleska (1-1) picked up the win, striking out Ray Sadler with two outs in the 10th with Brandon Jones at third after a triple.
Kansas City reliever Mike Mehlich (1-1) pitched the 10th inning and got the loss, throwing 2/3 inning allowing no earned runs on a walk with a strikeout.
Nic Jackson was 3-for-5 with a home run and four RBIs, Buddy Sosnoskie was 2-for-5 with two runs, Eric Campbell was 2-for-5 with an RBI, and Ryan was 2-for-4 with a double to lead the RedHawks (29-21).
Devin Goodwin hit a two-run home run, Williams was 2-for-4 with a triple, Hunter Mense was 2-for-4 with a home run and Justin Bass was 2-for-5 with a double and the RBI single that gave the T-Bones their 5-0 lead in the seventh.
The RedHawks have a day off Wednesday before starting a four-game series at Newman Outdoor Field with the American Association leading Grand Prairie AirHogs at 7:02 p.m. Thursday. Tickets are available at www.fmredhawks.com or by telephone at (701) 235-6161.
