Memphis Redbirds News Release
OKLAHOMA CITY, Oklahoma - The Memphis Redbirds (22-14) lost the series finale at the Oklahoma City Dodgers (Dodgers) Friday night, 2-0, with the game played in 1:54 for the franchise's shortest nine-inning game since 2004.
The time of game was tied for the fourth-shortest in franchise history. Memphis has been shut out in three of its last eight games against the Dodgers, and the Redbirds went 3-5 on their eight-game road trip to Nashville and Oklahoma City.
Memphis mustered four hits in the game, and Oklahoma City's Justin DeFratus tossed a complete-game shutout on 89 pitches with no walks. Oscar Mercado, Max Schrock, Patrick Wisdom, and starting pitcher Kevin Herget had Memphis' hits in the game, with Herget's and Schrock's being doubles.
The Redbirds brought the go-ahead run to the plate with two outs in the top of the ninth inning, after Schrock doubled and Tyler O'Neill was hit by a pitch, but pinch-hitter Wilfredo Tovar grounded out to end the ballgame.
Herget fanned seven in 6.2 innings of work, and he allowed one run on seven hits. Preston Guilmet finished the game and surrendered an eighth-inning home run as part of his 1.1 innings of work.
The Redbirds return to AutoZone Park for four games against Nashville (Athletics) starting tomorrow. For more information on single-game tickets and ticket mini-memberships, visit www.memphisredbirds.com.
