New Orleans Baby Cakes News Release
Metairie, LA - The New Orleans Baby Cakes return to "The Shrine" to open an eight-game homestand on Saturday at 6 p.m. with the opener of a four-game set against the Omaha Storm Chasers.
The Baby Cakes have won nine of their last 11 games, including six of seven on their current road trip, to move back above the .500 mark for the season. New Orleans leads the Pacific Coast League in May with a 2.65 team ERA, led by reigning PCL Pitcher of the Week Ben Meyer. The 'Cakes also rank third with a .299 team batting average, as Eric Campbell (.500) and JT Riddle (.441) both place among the top five in the circuit for the month.
The LEGO Let's Play Tour will in town both Saturday and Sunday, providing an interactive opportunity for kids to have fun before and during the games. Activities include building tables for creative play, family challenges, photo opportunities with life-size LEGO models, and a chance to build and launch your own LEGO creations down a race ramp. In addition, there will be prizes and special in-game LEGO content. Saturday will also feature an appearance by Telemundo's Ana Jurka as part of the "Noche de Beisbol" celebration, and fans will have a chance to win a prize pack from Massage Envy.
The 'Cakes celebrate Mother's Day on Sunday at 1 p.m., with the first 300 moms in attendance receiving a flower courtesy of Villere's Florist. $7 cocktails will be available in the Bayou Social, and fans can enter for a chance to win Paul Simon tickets. All fans are invited to play catch on the field one hour prior to game time and kids ages 4- 13 can run the bases postgame. Sunday will also include the rescheduled "Halfway to Halloween" promotion, with a children's costume contest and a postgame candy hunt on the field.
Our Hero Monday returns with discounted $5 tickets for all police officers, firefighters, military personnel, EMTs, doctors, nurses and their families before the four-game set wraps up with an 11 a.m. contest on Tuesday with STEM Day, featuring interactive learning experiences in science, math, and technology for kids. The 'Cakes invite fans to spend their lunch hour at the ballpark by offering a $10 package for a game ticket, hot dog and soda.
