The Redbirds opened the scoring in the third with two outs. After back-to-back singles by Travis Tartamella and Jackson, Wong roped a shot over the right-field wall to give the 'Birds a 3-0 lead. Huffman doubled and was driven in by Chambers to extend the Memphis lead to 4-0.
The Express finally reached Additon in the fourth. Joey Butler hit his ninth home run of the year with a man on to cut the Redbirds' lead in half, 4-2. Chris McGuiness tacked on another run with a two-out RBI-double, pulling the Express within a run at 4-3.
