
Redbirds Drop Series Opener to Jumbo Shrimp on Tuesday

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Memphis Redbirds opened up a six-game homestand with a 10-1 loss to the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp (Triple-A, Miami Marlins) on Tuesday night at AutoZone Park.
Memphis starter Michael McGreevy (1-3) sailed through the first four innings, as he allowed just two baserunners in scoreless work. The right-handed pitcher then allowed a pair of two-run homers in the fifth. McGreevy allowed four runs on six hits, walked one and struck out two.
The lone Redbirds run came on the club's first hit of the game, a solo home run from left fielder Matt Koperniak with one out in the sixth inning. On the night, Memphis recorded just two hits, stranded two runners on base and went 0-for-3 with runners in scoring position.
The Memphis Redbirds return to AutoZone Park to continue a six-game series against the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp on Wednesday, April 24 with first pitch for 12:05 p.m. CDT.
