TODAY'S GAME: The Wings and IronPigs (Phillies) play the finale of their 4-game set Tuesday night (7:05 p.m.) from Coca-Cola Park in Allentown, PA after Lehigh Valley took control of the series with a 14-5 thumping of the Wings on Monday. Rochester has now dropped 13 of their last 22 contests since a 4-game winning streak 4/24-4/27 and are 16-16 since April 18 after beginning the season 2-11. The Wings currently sit in 5th-place in the IL North 8.0 games back of Buffalo and Pawtucket... Meanwhile, the IronPigs are 1.5 games clear of Rochester and in 4th place in the North... After an off-day Wednesday, the Wings open an 8-game homestand on Thursday against the Charlotte Knights (White Sox) at Frontier Field.

Will earn a split of the 4-game set and avoid losing their 5th series of the season (1-4-7 in series this season)

Will avoid falling to a tied for season-worse 10 games below .500 (15-25 on 5/15)

MORE ABOUT YESTERDAY...:

The Wings allowed a season-high 14 runs. It was the most runs allowed by the Wings since yielding 17 to SYR on 7/26/12 (17-9)

Red Wings starter Cole De Vries allowed 9 runs (8 ER)... It was the most runs allowed by a Wings starter this season.

Chris Colabello¡'s grand slam extended the Wings streak of recording at least one extra-base hit to 29 games.

MAGNIFICENT MAY: Red Wings 1B Chris Colabello, who went 1-for-3 with a grand slam Monday night, has arguably been the hottest hitter in the game of baseball since the calendar flipped to May. So far this month he¡'s hitting .434 with 6 HR and 19 RBI in 19 games... His 33 hits, 18 extra-base hits, 12 doubles and 63 total bases in the month of May all rank first in all of baseball (MiLB & MLB). His .434 batting average ranks 4th among all MiLBers and 7th in all of baseball and his 1.329 OPS is 4th-best in the game this month.

Colabello is riding a team-high 12-G hit streak (.489, 13 XBH, 16 RBI) and has recorded a hit in 21 of the last 22 games

On the year, Colabello leads the IL in HR (12), hits (62), SLG (.669), XBH (29) & TB (115)... He¡¯s 3rd in AVG (.360) & 2nd in RBI (38)

DEDUNO SCRATCHED; VASQUEZ STARTS: The Red Wings scheduled starter on Tuesday, RHP Samuel Deduno, was scratched from his start as he will now make his 2013 Major League debut on Friday with Minnesota against the Tigers. Deduno, the star of the 2013 World Baseball Classic going 2-0 with a 0.69 ERA in 3 GS -- including the win in the Title Game against Puerto Rico, went 0-0, 2.70 (5 ER/16.2 IP) in 3 GS with the Wings this season after missing the first 29 games of the season with a groin strain... RHP Virgil Vasquez will make the start for the Wings in place of Deduno. Vasquez, who hasn't pitched since May 13, will be making his 7th start of the year and 10th appearance. The 30-year-old veteran started the year in the rotation (2-1, 4.28 in 5 GS) before being moved to the bullpen when Deduno was activated off the DL on May 5. He went 0-1 with a 6.23 ERA in 3 relief outings but did earn his first career save on May 7 @ Toledo in a 16-inning affair.

YOU FIRST?: The Red Wings are just 11-13 this season in games they score the first run. Rochester is the only team in the IL this season with a losing record after scoring first. Last season, the Wings went 47-19 when grabbing the lead first.

IN NEED OF RELIEF: After Shairon Martis allowed 5 runs last night in relief, the Wings bullpen ERA on the season rose to 6.50 (110 ER/152.1 IP)... The relief corps has allowed three more runs than the starting rotation despite throwing 92.1 less innings than the rotation. Manager Gene Glynn has gone to the bullpen 120 times this season and only 63 times (53%) has the reliever been able to post a scoreless outing. The Wings current group of relievers has a 6.12 ERA (58 ER/85.1 IP) this season in a combined 65 relief outings.

THOMPSON, THIELBAR DEBUT: LHP Aaron Thompson made his Red Wings debut last night tossing 2 shutout innings of relief with 3 strikeouts. The former 1st round pick of the Marlins in 2005 extended his scoreless streak to 14.1 innings between NBR (AA) and ROC... Former Wings reliever, Caleb Thielbar, made his Major League debut Monday after being recalled from Rochester earlier in the day and threw 2.0 scoreless innings with 3 strikeouts as well (25 pitches, 20 strikes)

WINGS VS. PIGS: The Wings have struggled against the IronPigs since taking 11 of 16 games from Lehigh Valley in 2008 -- the Pigs first year in the IL. Since 2009, Rochester is now just 27-40 against their North division rival and have not won a season series. The Red Wings haven't won a 4-game set against Lehigh Valley since taking 3 of 4 at Frontier Field on 8/13-8/16/10... The last time the Wings won a series in Lehigh Valley was 5/29-6/1/09 (3-1).
