Grand Rapids Griffins News Release

Grand Rapids, Mich. - Forwards Sean Avery, Stacy Roest and Jason Williams, who have combined to play 56 games with the Detroit Red Wings this season, are all expected to be in the lineup for the Grand Rapids Griffins when they host the Rochester Americans this Saturday (7:30 p.m.) and Sunday (4:00 p.m.).

Tomorrow's contest, the Griffins' final Saturday home game, would mark the first at Van Andel Arena this season in which all three prospects play. While Roest has been in Grand Rapids nearly the entire season, Williams wasn't assigned to the Griffins until January, and Avery re-joined the team for his third stint on Tuesday.

The trio played its first game together as Griffins on Wednesday in Chicago, totaling two goals and five assists in a 7-4 rout of the Wolves.

Adding to the intrigue this weekend is goaltender Ryan Miller, the former Michigan State standout and 2001 Hobey Baker Award winner who was reassigned to Rochester by the Buffalo Sabres on Feb. 22. A native of East Lansing, Mich., and cousin of former Griffins Kelly, Kevin and Kip Miller, Ryan returns to Van Andel Arena for the first time since March 25, 2001, when he led the Spartans to a 5-1 win over Wisconsin in the regional finals of the NCAA tournament.

Miller, who went 6-8-1 with a 2.63 goals against average and one shutout in 15 games with Buffalo, is tied for sixth in the American Hockey League with a 2.26 GAA and tied for fifth with a 0.925 save percentage. He owns a 14-10-4 record and two shutouts for the Amerks, who are just 8-16-9 without him between the pipes.
