LOOKING AHEAD:
There will be history in Springfield on Friday (7:35 ET) as captain Rob Murray becomes the sixth player to skate in 1,000 regular season AHL games. Murray's Falcons are currently 10th in the Eastern Conference, six points behind seventh-place Hartford, which is 4-1-1-1 in its last seven road games. Wolf Pack captain and former teammate Ken Gernander is second to Murray on the AHL's active games-played list with 809 entering the weekend.
Bridgeport goes for its first-ever victory over Hershey at Harbor Yard on Friday (7:35 ET). The Sound Tigers are 0-3-2-0 in their brief existence against the Bears, who are looking for their 10th consecutive trip to the Calder Cup Playoffs. Bridgeport is 6-0-0-1 in its last seven at home and 11-1-0-1 in its last 13 overall as the Sound Tigers try to defend their East Division title. Hershey's leading scorer Brian Willsie has 20 points in his last 19 games for the Bears.
Utah begins a six-game road swing with three games in less than 48 hours against West Division foes, starting in Milwaukee on Friday (7:12 CT, 6:12 MT). The Admirals, who also play three in three against division opponents this weekend, are 5-1-0-0 against the Grizzlies this season, including a 5-4 win in Salt Lake on Wednesday. Darren Haydar leads all scorers in the season series with seven assists and eight points for Milwaukee, 10th in the Western Conference entering the weekend. Former Admiral Bubba Berenzweig has five points in five games since joining Utah.
Rookie goaltender Ryan Miller leads Rochester into Grand Rapids for two big games, Saturday night (7:30 ET) and Sunday afternoon (4:00 ET). Miller time in Michigan is nothing new, as East Lansing native Ryan won the 2001 Hobey Baker Award at Michigan State, 11 years after his cousin (and future Griffin) Kip Miller did the same with the Spartans. Miller, who was 73-18-12 in three years at MSU, is 14-10-4 with the Amerks; Rochester is 8-16-9 without him between the pipes.
