Botterill and Hecl Recalled by Buffalo

(Rochester, NY)... The Buffalo Sabres announced today that left wing Jason Botterill and defenseman Radoslav Hecl have been recalled from the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League.

For Botterill it is his second recall by the Buffalo Sabres this season. The Edmonton, Alberta, native currently leads the AHL with 36 goals and is second on the Amerks with 56 points in 61 games (36+20). He is also tied for second in the league with 13 power-play goals and leads the AHL with four game-tying goals.

Botterill signed with Buffalo in the offseason and was originally a first-round selection (20th overall) of the Dallas Stars in the 1994 NHL Entry Draft.

Hecl returns to Buffalo after being reassigned to the Amerks on Thursday. This season, he has appeared in seven games with the Sabres. The Partizanske, Slovakia, native registered six goals and 13 assists in 54 games with the Amerks this year.

He was the Buffalo Sabres' seven-round selection (208th overall) in the 2002 National Hockey League Entry Draft.

Rochester plays Syracuse at the Onondaga County War Memorial at 7:30 p.m. tonight. The game will be broadcast on WHTK 1280-AM and on the web at www.amerks.com. Rochester leads the season series with a 3-1-1-1 record. The game is the seventh of 12 contests between the two teams this season. The game will be televised in Syracuse on Time Warner Cable 13.
