Grand Rapids Griffins News Release
Grand Rapids, Mich. - The Grand Rapids Griffins on Wednesday announced that the Detroit Red Wings have recalled center Mark Mowers from the American Hockey League team.
Mowers, a Second Team AHL All-Star in 2002-03, currently leads the Griffins with eight goals, 14 points, three power play goals and three game-winning goals (tied), and his plus-five rating ranks second among the team's forwards. His 14 points (T18th) and three game-winners (T3rd) place him among the AHL's leaders in each category.
The 29-year-old Mowers, whose NHL resume consists of 18 points (5-13-18) in 85 games with the Nashville Predators from 1998-2002, joins former Griffins teammates Darryl Bootland and Jamie Rivers on Detroit's roster. He will be available to play for the Red Wings tonight when they host Columbus at 7:30.
The Griffins will also be in action tonight against the Houston Aeros. Faceoff at Van Andel Arena is set for 7 p.m.
