Utah Grizzlies News Release
West Valley City, Utah- The Ontario Reign defeated the Utah Grizzlies 3-2 Monday night at Maverik Center.
With the win, Ontario improved to 22-4-3-1 since December 28 and captured first place in the Pacific Division for the first time all year.
Utah got within a goal on a Dave Strathman score with 7:29 left in regulation, but was unable to get the equalizer as time expired. Strathman worked up the left side and backhanded the puck into the Ontario net.
The Reign led from the 9:14 mark of the first period and built a 2-0 lead on their only power-play of the night 10:02 into the second period. Utah answered to make it 2-1 just 1:38 later as Ryan Watson and C.J. Severyn worked to get the puck to Ross Carlson in front for his first goal in a Utah uniform. The Reign responded in transition 1:24 later to make it 3-1.
The Grizzlies continue their home stand Wednesday with Ontario for a Wild $2 Wednesday. Hot Dogs, Fries, Soft Drinks and Draft Beers will all be available for $2 while students with ID can get lower bowl tickets for $5.
