Wranglers Go Bald for Childhood Cancer Awareness
March 6, 2012 - ECHL (ECHL)
Las Vegas Wranglers News Release
Las Vegas - Players and front office staff from the Las Vegas Wranglers will shave their heads on the ice for a good cause later this month. Partnering with the St. Baldrick's Foundation for the sixth season in a row, the team will wear themed jerseys and shave their heads on March 18 to raise funds and awareness for childhood cancers.
Wranglers players will wear a special St. Patrick's Day jersey for the Sunday, March 18 game against the Bakersfield Condors at 2:05 p.m. A majority of the game-worn, autographed jerseys will be silently auctioned off on the Orleans Arena concourse, and selected jerseys will be auctioned off live on the ice after the game. One lucky fan will also win a free signed jersey off a player's back during the second intermission. All of the jerseys have been provided courtesy of Climb For Five.
Immediately after the game, Wranglers players will take the ice again to have their heads shaved to show solidarity with children battling cancers. Fans can donate to their favorite player, head coach Ryan Mougenel or various front office staff members by visiting the team's St. Baldrick's Foundation page here . Last season, the Wranglers raised $13,956 for the foundation.
"St. Baldrick's is a great cause, and shaving our heads is such a simple way for us to help raise money," Wranglers captain and defenseman Mike Madill said. "We're all excited for the event, and looking forward to having fun with it."
Fans are also welcome to join the Wranglers and raise funds to shave their head by visiting the team page and choosing to "participate with this team." The fan that individually raises the most money will be able to have their head shaved on the ice with the rest of the Wranglers organization.
Group packages are on sale now at (702) 471-PUCK. Individual tickets to Wranglers games are available by phone at (702) 284-7777, and can be purchased in person at all Coast Casino properties, Town Square shopping center or online at www.orleansarena.com. The Wranglers play all 36 regular season home games at the Orleans Arena, located next to the Orleans Hotel and Casino at 4500 W. Tropicana Ave.
