March 6, 2012 - ECHL (ECHL)
Colorado Eagles News Release

LOVELAND, Colo. - The Colorado Eagles of the ECHL announced today that they've signed Morgan Cey as an emergency goaltender to back-up Kyle Jones with both Andrew Penner and Robby Nolan on IR. He was previously signed in an emergency role on Feb. 24 and released on Feb. 27 while Nolan was on loan to the AHL's Houston Aeros. Cey spent the 2008-09 season with the Eagles as Penner's back-up, and is the older brother of current Eagles forward Patrick Cey.

The netminder has appeared in 121 career games in the ECHL with two other teams (Johnstown Chiefs & Mississippi Sea Wolves). In 25 games with the Eagles in 2008-09 (while they were in the CHL), Cey posted a record of 15-9-1, with a 3.40 GAA & a .897 SV%. He was the winning goalie of record in the 2009 CHL All-Star game that saw the host Eagles defeat a team made of all-stars from the rest of the league, 8-4.

Since retiring, Cey has made Northern Colorado his family's home. His wife is a teacher at a local school and he has remained involved in the sport of hockey as a coach and goaltending coordinator at the NoCo Ice Center.
