Red Claws Shatter Three-Point Record to Win 6th Straight

Portland, ME - The Maine Red Claws, presented by Unum, used hot shooting to rout the Grand Rapids Drive Friday night, 132-107. Maine (27-15) set franchise records with 24 made three pointers and 51 three point attempts. Maine's magic number to clinch a playoff spot is now 2.

Levi Randolph led the Red Claws with 25 points on 9-12 shooting (5-8 from three). It was Randolph's fifth start of the season. Omari Johnson and Corey Walden each added 22 points, Marcus Thornton scored 20 points, Malcolm Miller poured in 16, and Tim Frazier (10 points, 5 rebounds, 10 assists) and James Young (10 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists) rounded out the double-digit scoring for Maine.

Grand Rapids (18-23) started the game on an 11-3 run. Lorenzo Brown (31 points) and the Drive were scoring inside at will. The Claws clamped down, starting to make shots of their own. Randolph, Johnson and Frazier all filled it up in the first two periods. The Red Claws shot 60% in the first half, taking a 66-54 lead into the break.

The Red Claws poured it on in the 3rd quarter, scoring 35 points and extending the lead to 20+. Walden, Johnson and Randolph continued the hot shooting; Maine had 20 made three pointers after three quarters and a 101-74 lead. Frazier got within five rebounds of a triple double in just 26 minutes, but was limited in the second half with an ankle injury. Andre Stringer set the franchise three-point record with a make late in the fourth quarter. Thornton added another three to extend the record to 24.

James Young, on assignment from the Boston Celtics, finished the game with a team-leading plus/minus of +28.
