Raptors 905 guard Scott Suggs recorded a game-high 22 points to lead the Mississauga club to a 102-98 win over the Iowa Energy Friday night at Hershey Centre.
Neither team led by more than four points in a back-and-forth opening quarter that had seven lead changes and six times tied and saw Raptors 905 ahead 23-22 heading into the second frame. Raptors 905 went up by as many as 10 points in the second quarter and led 50-42 at the half.
The Energy gained three points in the third quarter, outscoring Raptors 905 29-26 in the period, but Raptors 905 maintained a five-point advantage, 76-71, heading into the final frame. Iowa went on a 20-7 run in the first seven minutes of the fourth quarter to take a 91-83 lead with less than five minutes to play, but Raptors 905 stormed back with a 19-7 run the rest of the way to secure the victory.
Scoring in double digits for Raptors 905 were Scott Suggs (22), Bruno Caboclo (20), Delon Wright (17), Shannon Scott (16) and E.J. Singler (12). Wright and Scott each completed double-doubles with 13 and 10 rebounds, respectively. Leading Iowa in scoring were Patrick Christopher (18), Andrew Harrison (17), James Ennis (16), DJ Stephens (15), Ramon Harris (11) and Mardracus Wade (10). Harris (game-high 14 rebounds) and Stephens (10 rebounds) each had double-doubles.
Raptors 905 led Maine in field goal percentage (44.3-41.2), three point percentage (36.7-31.3) and second-chance points (15-11), while Iowa held the advantage in free throw percentage (81.8-80.8) and fast-break points (12-11). The teams each had 40 points in the paint.
Raptors 905 and Iowa rematch Saturday, March 12 at 7 p.m. at Hershey Centre.
