
Legends' Buzzer-Beater Falls Short against Vipers

FRISCO, TX - The Texas Legends missed a buzzer-beater Friday night to fall to their in-state rivals, the Rio Grande Valley Vipers 113-115.
Raphiael Putney was the first on the scoreboard with an outside shot for the Vipers. After 7 lead changes, the Legends took over four minutes in and held a 33-27 lead at the buzzer. Chris Douglas-Roberts added 11 second-quarter points to keep Texas ahead going into the locker room.
The Legends maintained their lead for nine minutes in the third before back-to-back points from Will Cummings and Chris Walker gave RGV a two-point advantage. Texas tied the score up four more times in the final minutes but Jarvis Threatt had the final say giving the Vipers an 89-88 lead into the fourth. Threatt added 10 more points in the final quarter to keep the match close. With 12.3 seconds on the clock, Tu Holloway hit a three to make it a one-point game and the Legends were forced to foul. One sunk free throw later the Legends were facing a two-point deficit but were unable to connect on the final shot.
Holloway and Douglas-Roberts added 24 each to lead the Legends while Jamil Wilson added 19. Newcomer Josh Childress added 17 points, 7 rebounds off the bench in his first appearance with the Legends. Micheal Eric grabbed 9 points, 14 rebounds, and a game-high 5 blocks.
Threatt came off the Vipers' bench to add a team-high 24 points. Cummings followed closely with 21 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists, and Jordan Hamilton added the team's only double-double of 19 points, 14 rebounds.
