
Red Claws Finish Season with Bitter Loss

Mississauga, ON - March 24, 2018 - The Maine Red Claws, presented by Unum, had a 15 point lead and fought to the bitter end, only to lose in devastating fashion to Raptors 905 in the 2017-18 season finale, 87-86.
Former Red Claw Davion Berry hit a game-winning 3 in the final seconds to lift Raptors 905 (31-19) to victory.
Maine (17-33) was led by another stellar performance by Trey Davis with 34 points. Josh Adeyeye added 18 points, including 6 made three-pointers. They were the only Red Claws in double-digits, with Devin Williams grabbing 14 rebounds and Daniel Dixon adding 12 boards. The Red Claws finished the season losing 10 straight and 18 of 19 games.
Adeyeye started the scoring by knocking in a three-pointer. Former Red Claw Malcolm Miller knocked in a three to give the 905 its first lead at 7-6. Davis started the game hot, making his first 3 shots and giving the Claws an early lead. Davis scored 13 points in the first 8 minutes of the game, and threw in a buzzer beater to give him 16 in the 1st, with Maine leading 23-21 after 1.
In the 2nd, Williams and Davis scored quick lay-ups to extend the lead. Adeyeye buried a three to put Maine up 32-23. The Red Claws extended to double-digits. Vitto Brown's jumper made it 44-29. Williams' floater late in the period helped maintain the lead, but former Red Claw Davion Berry knocked in a three to stop the bleeding for Raptors 905. Maine took a 50-43 lead into halftime, with Davis leading all scorers with 22 points at the break.
Adeyeye opened the 3rd by knocking in back-to-back three's to put Maine up 14. Davis continued to roll, scoring 6 early points for Maine. Miller knocked in back-to-back threes of his own to get the 905 back to 4. Miller dropped in another trey to give the 905 a 63-62 lead. Brown's three tied the game at 67. The Red Claws took a 69-67 lead after 3.
In the 4th, Adeyeye hit another three to put Maine back up 5. Davis' runner made it 74-71 Claws with 9:00 to go. Berry's three-point play tied the game at 76. Davis' strong drive put the Claws up 85=80. It stayed that way until the final minute. A pair of free throws cut it to 3. Berry buried a corner three to give the 905 an 87-86 lead with :08 left. Davis' desperation shot at the buzzer was short, and the Red Claws suffered another heartbreaking defeat.
The Red Claws shot 36% (34-94) from the field, 32% (12-28) from three-point range and 6-10 from the free throw line. Raptors 905 shot 35% (29-83) from the floor, 23% (7-30) from downtown and 22-27 from the charity stripe.
