Vipers Drop Last Regular Season Game Before Playoffs

MCALLEN, Texas - The NBA G League Rio Grande Valley Vipers, proud affiliate of the Houston Rockets, were not able to close out the regular season with a win and were defeated by Oklahoma City Blue 99-114.

Darius Morris led both teams in scoring with 26 points. Isaiah Hartenstein collected a double-double for the night with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Bryce Alford was Oklahoma City's leading scorer with 24 points. Blue's Daniel Hamilton had a double-double as well with 11 assists and 13 points.

The RGV Vipers were in control of the game in the first quarter. RGV's Darius Morris set the tempo in the first quarter with his nine points. The Vipers were able to close out the first quarter with a minimal lead finishing on top 26-23.

After seven lead changes in the second quarter, Oklahoma City Blue was in the driver's seat. Bryce Alford lit it up for the Blue in the second quarter with 15 points. Oklahoma City Blue went 8-for-12 from beyond the three-point line in the second quarter. As both teams headed for the locker rooms at the half, the Vipers trailed 58-63.

At the end of the third quarter, the Vipers were only able to cut the deficit by one point. Bryce Alford's eight points in the final quarter of play helped the Blue secure the win for the Blue.

The Vipers finished the regular season with a 29-21 record and as the fourth seed of the Western Conference. Rio Grande Valley clinched playoffs for a third consecutive season, for the first time in franchise history.
