Red Claws Erase 16-Point Deficit in OT Thriller

GRAND RAPIDS - March 17, 2015 - The Maine Red Claws, presented by Unum, erased a 16-point deficit on the road to defeat Grand Rapids in overtime, 110-104. Tim Frazier led the Claws with 22 points, James Young, on assignment from the Boston Celtics, finished with 20 points and 5 boards.

With the win, Maine (29-13) now moves closer to clinching a playoff spot. The Red Claws' magic number is now 2, and the magic number to clinch the division is now 5.

Grand Rapids (19-23) controlled the first half, surging out to a double-digit lead. Former Red Claw Daniel Orton was impressive in his Grand Rapids debut, leading the early charge. Orton finished with 16 points and 15 rebounds.

The Red Claws trailed 33-22 after one. The Drive extended the lead to as many as 16 in the second quarter. Maine was down 60-47 at the break, with many of those points coming from Frazier.

The Claws took over in the second half. Frazier's driving layup tied the game at 101-101, forcing overtime. In the extra period, Maine out-scored Grand Rapids 9-3, with all nine points coming from the free throw line.

Both Frazier and Young finished 7-16 from the floor, with Frazier shooting a career best 4-5 from downtown. Romero Osby added 18 points and 9 rebounds, while Chris Babb and Omari Johnson each added 13.

After shooting a season-best 62% Sunday vs. Erie, Maine shot just 39% tonight.

The Red Claws will face off with Grand Rapids again Thursday night at 7 p.m. Maine then travels to Texas Saturday night.
