Energy Fall to the Mad Ants

Fort Wayne, IN - The Iowa Energy (21-20) fell 101-88 to the Fort Wayne Mad Ants (24-20) Tuesday night at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum.

The Energy were led by Willie Reed with 20 points and 22 rebounds for his seventh straight double-double. Chris Allen added 17 points and five rebounds and Memphis Grizzlies assignee Jarnell Stokes added 16 points and 13 rebounds. The Mad Ants were led by Jordan Crawford with 29 points.

Iowa jumped out to a quick lead in the first quarter. The Mad Ants responded by putting together an 11-0 run to take the lead. Larry Owens led the Energy with seven points as Fort Wayne held a 29-24 lead heading into the second quarter. In the second quarter, the Mad Ants opened up an eight-point lead. Chris Allen would knock down three three-pointers to help the Energy gather some momentum as they fought back to tie the game 52-52 at halftime.

It was a tight battle in the third quarter as neither team was able to pull away. The Energy were able to briefly take the lead to begin the second half. Fort Wayne would take the lead at the end of the quarter, 78-73. The fourth quarter also started out as a tight battle with the two teams exchanging the lead three times. Fort Wayne went on a 15-0 in the middle of the quarter to pull away from the Energy. The Energy were unable to put a comeback together and would fall 101-88 to the Mad Ants.

Iowa returns home Friday, March 20 at 7pm against the Fort Wayne Mad Ants on Country Night.
