Cleveland Charge News Release
The Canton Charge (25-17), presented by SecureData 365 and powered by the Cleveland Cavaliers, posted a 104-73 victory over the Westchester Knicks (10-32) at the Memorial Civic Center on Tuesday night. The Charge have now won 11 of their last 14 games overall and have a two game lead on the top Wild Card spot in the East with eight games to play.
The Charge took a 5-2 lead at the 10:11 mark in the first quarter on a Stephen Holt three pointer and never looked back, going up by as many as 24 in the first half before finishing with their largest margin of victory so far this season. Canton entered halftime leading 61-41 behind a balanced attack, hitting 7-of-13 (54%) three-pointers in the first half and 52% of shots overall from the field. The hosts never led by less than double-digits in the entire second half.
Canton came into tonight allowing just 96.8 points per game, good for the top scoring defense in the D-League. Westchester's 73 points tonight were a new opponent low for the Charge this season, and Canton improved to 21-4 this year when holding their opponents under 100 points.
Six Charge players scored in double-figures, led by Maurice Kemp's season-high 17 points in 24 minutes off the bench. Alex Kirk posted his fifth double-double of the season with 15 points and 11 rebounds in 31 minutes. Jorge Gutierrez notched his second double-double in ten games with 11 points and 13 assists, tying his career-high, in 30 minutes off the bench.
