
Red Claws Dominate Blue Coats for 3rd Straight Win

Portland, ME -The Maine Red Claws, presented by Unum, put on a dominant shooting performance to cruise past the Delaware Blue Coats Friday night, 124-102.
Maine (17-23) equaled last year's win total with the victory tonight, and jumped Delaware to move into 3rd place in the Atlantic Division. Andrew White led the scoring with 22 points on 8-12 shooting, while John Bohannon was near a triple-double with 15 points, 16 rebounds and 8 assists. P.J. Dozier added 18 points, R.J. Hunter 17 points, and Justin Bibbs 14 points. Archie Goodwin led the bench with 14 points, and Vitto Brown added 11 in the win.
The Blue Coats got started quickly. Jared Brownridge dropped in a three to give Delaware a 9-2 lead. Dozier scored 4 quick points for Maine. The Red Claws went on a 10-2 run to take the lead on a Hunter 3. The run didn't stop there. White scored 5 straight to make it 17-11. Hunter's three extended the run to 18-2 and a 20-11 lead. The Blue Coats came back, with Brownridge's three giving Delaware a 24-23 lead. Trey Davis scored 5 quick points, and the Red Claws led 34-30 after a wild 1st quarter.
In the 2nd, Maine picked up right where it left off offensively, quickly extending the lead to 10. Bibbs scored quickly and often, and Dozier's free throws made it 47-34 Claws. Maine opened the quarter on a 16-4 run to extend to a 16 point lead. White continued his hot shooting, making 6 of his first 8 shots. The Blue Coats came back, cutting it to 9. Vitto Brown stopped the run with a deep three. White buried another trey, and the Red Claws led 68-57 at the break. White led all scorers with 18 points.
Dozier opened the 2nd half with a pair of quick buckets. Bohannon's slam put Maine up 79-64. Bohannon continued his strong play, tipping home his own miss for two more. White got to 20 points with a bucket. Hunter's finger-roll put Maine up 16. The lead extended from there, with Goodwin's buckets making it 91-71 Red Claws. The Red Claws led, 96-74 after 3, holding Delaware to just 17 points in the 3rd quarter.
The Red Claws continued the hot shooting in the 4th, with Brown knocking in a three to extend the lead to 27. Delaware cut it to 18 with a Keenan Evans three-point play. Dozier stopped the run with a big bucket. Dozier followed that up with a corner three to make it 112-89. Dozier's driving lay-up proved to be the dagger.
Maine finished shooting 52.6% (51-97) from the floor, and 43.2% (16-37) from three-point range, while going just 6-9 from the free throw line. Delaware shot 39.8% (37-93) from the floor, 33.3% (13-39) from downtown, and 15-19 from the charity stripe.
