May 22, 2022 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
New York Red Bulls News Release
The New York Red Bulls (5-3-5, 20 pts.) suffered a 2-0 defeat to Inter Miami CF (4-6-3, 15 pts.) at DRV PNK Stadium on Sunday night.
Miami opened the scoring in the 29th minute, when Ariel Lassiter cut into New York's eighteen-yard box and ripped a shot that deflected off a New York defender and ended up in the back of the net.
Miami doubled their lead in the 88th minute, when a long ball found the feet of Gonzalo Higuain, who played Robert Taylor down the line. Taylor played Victor Ulloa across the box, and Ulloa played it back to Taylor, who placed it in the back of the net.
Red Bulls goalkeeper Ryan Meara made his first MLS regular season appearance since November 8, 2020, against Toronto FC.
Following Sunday's match, New York will begin a two-match homestand, which starts with their U.S. Open Cup Round of 16 matchup against Charlotte FC on Wednesday, May 25, at MSU Soccer Park on the campus of Montclair State University. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. ET with coverage on ESPN+ and New York Red Bulls Radio in English and Spanish via TuneIn, the New York Red Bulls app and NewYorkRedBulls.com.
