Austin FC News Release
Austin, TEXAS - A late goal from Moussa Djitté earned Austin FC a 2-2 draw on Sunday night in front of a sold-out crowd at Q2 Stadium, as the Verde & Black erased a two-goal deficit to gain a point.
Things got off to a bad start for the Verde & Black, as Orlando opened the scoring in the 2nd-minute through Ercan Kara. Maxi Urruti nearly brought Austin back on level terms moments later, but his shot from distance caromed off the post.
OCSC then doubled its lead in the 22nd-minute. Ruan reacted quickest to a rebound and fired home after a spell when ATXFC had dominated possession and chances.
The second half was filled with incidents, beginning with two yellow cards in two minutes for Orlando defender Rodrigo Schlegel. The latter infraction led to a penalty kick, which Sebastián Driussi converted to bring the Verde & Black back into the match.
In the 69th-minute, the visitors were reduced to nine men when Cesar Araujo was shown a straight red card for a foul on Alex Ring. With a two-man advantage, Austin piled on chance after chance in the closing stages.
Diego Fagundez was unlucky to see his shot glance off the post, Djitté flashed a header just wide, and Alex Ring forced a great save from Orlando goalkeeper Pedro Gallese. Eventually, ATXFC's pressure paid off deep into stoppage time, with Žan Kolmanič's pinpoint cross picking out Djitté at the back post.
The Senegalese striker made no mistake with the finish in the 95th-minute, earning a point for the Verde & Black with the latest goal in Club history.
