
Gazdag Scores Seventh Goal of the Season; Blake Earns Sixth Clean Sheet of the Season

CHESTER, Pa. - The Philadelphia Union beat the Portland Timbers 2-0 on Sunday night at Providence Park. With the win, the Union remain in first place in the Eastern Conference with 24 points, conceding the least amount of goals in the league this season, allowing just nine goals in 13 games. In the first half, midfielder Daniel Gazdag put the Union in the lead with an overhead kick in the fifth minute, assisted by Alejandro Bedoya and Nathan Harriel. With the assist, Bedoya is now tied for fifth most assists in club history with 21 assists. Minutes into the second half, forward Sergio Santos scored his first goal of the season, assisted by left-back Kai Wagner. Wagner leads the team with five assists this season and has the fourth most assists in club history with 22 career assists. Goalkeeper Andre Blake denied two goal scoring opportunities to earn him his sixth clean sheet and is now tied for second most clean sheets in the league this season.
