Record sell-out crowd sees Wrangler win shootout, 2-1

Las Vegas, NV – The Las Vegas Wranglers beat the Victoria Salmon Kings 2-1 in a shootout in front of a record sell out crowd of 7,773 at the Orleans Arena on Saturday night. Goalie Marc Magliarditi made 29 saves in regulation and stopped all five shooters for the victory. Defenseman Ryan Gaucher scored the lone Las Vegas goal and forward Dustin Johner added the game-winning goal in the shootout. The Las Vegas win extended the Salmon Kings winless streak to a new ECHL record of 17 games without a win (0-15-2). Victoria goalie Jason Stone took the loss, despite making 42 saves. The Wranglers host the Salmon Kings again on Monday, January 31st at 7:05 pm.

In the first period, the Wranglers took a 1-0 lead on Ryan Gaucher's power-play goal at 12:55 of the opening period. Dustin Johner and Christian Chartier set up the power play tally.

In the second period, the Salmon Kings tied the game at one. Defenseman Dennis Mullen fired a shot from the point for his first goal of the season at 11:04. The Victoria goal forced overtime and the eventual shootout.

In the shootout, Wranglers' goalie Marc Magliarditi stopped all five shooters to end a personal four-game losing streak. Victoria's goalie Jason Stone, only surrendered one goal in the shootout.
