Mississippi Sea Wolves News Release

BILOXI, Miss. – Four different goal scorers paced Mississippi to a 4-1 win over the Pee Dee Pride, giving the Sea Wolves their fifth straight victory before 4,210 fans at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum.

"It was one of our better games all year," Mississippi coach Bob Woods said. "We had good puck pursuit, the defense and goaltending didn't give the Pride many good chances and our power play was clicking. If we continue to play like this, we'll have a solid second half of the season."

Mississippi (21-14-3, 45 points) hit stride at the 10:57 mark. Nicolas Corbeil stung his former team with a right circle shot beating Nick Boucher for his 10th of the season. Assists went to Kerry Ellis-Toddington and Jay Legault, who has registered helpers in four consecutive games.

The Sea Wolves got their power play in gear to make it 2-0. Defenseman Chris Cava unleashed a wrist shot from the high slot to connect on his sixth goal of the campaign set up by Louis Dumont and Anthony Battaglia at 17:59.

Pee Dee (22-16-2, 46 points) was turned away by Mississippi goaltender Matt Underhill on all nine first period shots.

In the second, the Sea Wolves pounced early with the man advantage. Travis Lisabeth buried a Cava rebound to make it 3-0 for Mississippi just 55 seconds into the middle stanza. Legault picked up his second assist of the game. That goal signaled a goaltender change for Pee Dee, with Sebastien Laplante replacing Boucher.

Mississippi kept coming with offense. John Evangelista fed a breakaway pass to Mike Jarmuth, who tallied for the third straight game and extended his point streak to five. The assist for Evangelista was his fourth game in a row counting a helper. Darryl Campbell was also awarded an assist on the Jarmuth goal, which gave the Sea Wolves a 4-0 lead after 40 minutes.

The Pride solved Underhill on the 19th shot of the game. Jake Weigand deposited a rebound at 1:07 of the third to notch his second of the season. Allan Sirois and Gregg Johnson had the helpers.

Mississippi went 2-for-6 on the power play, while Pee Dee was unable to convert on three chances. Pride outshot the Sea Wolves 35-32.

The Sea Wolves play their third game of a four-game homestand at 7:05 p.m. on Tuesday against the Texas Wildcatters at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum.
