Red Deer, AB - The Calgary Hitmen closed a home-and-home set with the Rebels by falling 5-2 in Red Deer at Peavey Mart Centrium on Saturday night.
Maxim Muranov and Keets Fawcett both scored on the power play to count the Hitmen goals. Muranov hit the 20-goal mark while Fawcett tallied his 18th. Both Carter Yakemchuk and Oliver Tulk added a pair of assists with Tulk extending his point scoring streak to six games.
The Rebels never trailed, jumping out to a 4-0 second period lead on a pair of markers from Dwayne Jean Jr. Hunter Mayo, Talon Brigley and Matthew Gard completed the scoring on a night where the home side outshot the Hitmen 37-25.
The game marked a pair of milestones on the Calgary roster with Dax Williams skating in his 100th career Western Hockey League game and Fraser Leonard appearing in his 50th contest.
Calgary is back on the road next weekend, heading to Edmonton to face the Oil Kings on Friday, Mar. 15 in a 7:00 p.m. puck drop at Rogers Place. The Hitmen will then welcome the Lethbridge Hurricanes to Scotiabank Saddledome on Sunday, Mar. 17. Game time is 4:00 p.m. in the last Sunday Funday of the regular season presented by Brookfield Residential. In addition to $3 sips and snacks specials all game long, look for family fun entertainment on the west concourse. There are also $6 Hitmen Happy Hour food and drink deals throughout the day and the RAM post-game family skate with Farley or fans can head up to the concourse for a post-game autograph session with the entire team.
