Celebrating Over 100 Years Of Hockey Tradition

It's Oregon Hockey History Night at the VMC, and we've got a TON for you to look forward to!

First up, some sweet throwback threads honoring Portland's first professional ice hockey team, the Rosebuds. Featuring a modernized version of the Rosebuds' iconic crest, these sweaters are one-of-a-kind with special embroidery on player numbers and a unique striping pattern throughout.

You can grab a sublimated replica (as well as Rosebuds t-shirts, hoodies, jackets and more!) in the Winterhawks Team Store at tonight's game, but the ONLY way to get a fully-stitched, game-worn version is through the Winterhawks Amateur Hockey Association (WAHA) "Jersey Off Their Backs" giveaway. Visit the WAHA table outside Entry CC to purchase a raffle ticket for $10, or grab a Golden Ticket to guarantee yourself a jersey when they're given away after the game on March 23!

That's not all - enjoy more retro vibes with a LIVE organ in the VMC bowl throughout the game, played by Pete Schweitzer! And be sure to stop by local collector Scott Petterson's authentic Portland hockey memorabilia display on the concourse outside Entry MM to learn more about the unique hockey tradition of our city and state.

Taming The Wild

Points and wins mean more at this time of year, and with just three points separating Portland, Prince George and Everett atop the Western Conference, there's no margin for error. The Hawks have stumbled against Wenatchee at times this year, but put up a dominant 7-2 victory in their last meeting on Dec. 13. After dealing some big names at the trade deadline, the Wild aren't the same team that won three straight to start the season series - but don't let that fool you into thinking they aren't dangerous. There's plenty of talent in the Wenatchee lineup, from leading scorer Kenta Isogai to standout 20-year-old blueliner Graham Sward and more who will be keen to knock off the division's top dogs, but with Portland in the driver's seat for the conference's top seed, you know they'll be up for the challenge. Who's up for another Glass Palace classic tonight?

Chyzowski Hits 200

It's also a milestone moment for a fan favorite as Kyle Chyzowski is set to lace 'em up for the 200th time in the Western Hockey League tonight! Originally a third-round selection of the Hawks back in 2019, Chyzowski is enjoying a career year with 45 points in 57 games this season. The Surrey, B.C. native is just 19 but has already worn an A as an alternate captain for two consecutive seasons - a sign of the respect his teammates and coaches have for him. Chyzowski boasts 121 points through his 199 career games thus far, and is known for his tenacity, leadership and boundless compete level on a nightly basis.

Congrats, Chyzzer!
