Medicine Hat Tigers News Release

Saskatoon, SK - Despite falling behind 2-0 after 40 minutes, the Medicine Hat Tigers would keep things tight against the Saskatoon Blades but come away with a victory Friday night at SaskTel Centre. Falling 3-1 to the Blades.

It was a tough first period for the Tigers trying to convert on limited chances only registering four shots on goal but it would be the Blades getting a lucky break with a lost blade by the defending Tigers but Tanner Molendyk would get his 9th of the season at 14:29. Both teams would have one power play but weren't successful and the home side Blades would take the lead going to the 2nd.

The Tigers penalty kill would be put to the test on third consecutive sequences the Blades would have the man-advantage but could not solve Zach Zahara on all three opportunities. But it would be the Blades in transition able to send the Tigers behind two going into the third period as Egor Sidorov at 16:21 would rifle his 46th of the season past Zahara for a 2-0 Blade lead. Despite the period's story. The Tigers would outshoot the Blades 11-10.

In the third the Tigers would finally get on the board as on just their second power play of the night, Andrew Basha (Calgary, AB) would centre a pass that would end up in the back of the Blades net for his 28th of the season at 12:06 from Gavin McKenna (Whitehorse, YT) & Oasiz Wiesblatt (Calgary, AB). With 3:09 left in the period, the Tigers would pull the goalie but it would be a Fraser Minten empty net goal with 1:14 left in regulation.

With the loss, the Tigers drop their record to 35-21-5-2. They'll now turn their attention to the Prince Albert Raiders Saturday night at the Art Hauser Centre.
