Rebels Shut Out Silvertips, 2-0

Everett, WA - Darcy Kuemper made 34 saves collecting his third shutout of the season and leading the Red Deer Rebels to a 2-0 victory over Everett Tuesday night. Kent Simpson made 20 saves in net for the Silvertips. Turner Elson and Tyson Ness scored for Red Deer.

Simpson came up big early making a diving save on a 2 on 1 break by Red Deer leading to a diving save on Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. The Rebels scored the games first goal at 8:07. Elson collected a rebound on the goal line before squeezing the puck five-hole past Simpson for a 1-0 lead.

After a scoreless second period, Red Deer increased their lead at 1:15 of the third. Ness scored his third goal of the season after causing a turnover in the neutral zone. Streaking down the left wing, Ness went high blocker side on a slap shot for a 2-0 Rebels lead. Everett pulled Simpson with 1:28 left in regulation for an extra attacker. Kuemper stopped all 34 Everett shots faced to collect his third shutout of the year and lead Red Deer to a 2-0 victory.

This brings the 'Tips record to 6-7-1-3 with 16 points in 17 games played. Everett has three games this weekend starting against the Tri-City Americans this Friday at Comcast Arena for a 7:35 pm start. Saturday has the Silvertips at home against the Chilliwack Bruins at 7:05 pm before heading up to Kamloops this Sunday to take on the Blazers at 6:00 pm.

The Silvertips 2010-2011 regular season at Comcast Arena continues Friday, November 12th against the Tri-City Americans at 7:35 pm!
