First Nations and Metis Awareness Night Friday

Regina, Saskatchewan - With the success of the WHL's 1st ever First Nations and Metis Awareness night two seasons ago, a game that saw the City of Regina and the Regina Pats celebrate the vibrant First Nations and Metis community in front of a sold out stadium. The Pats as well as the City of Regina are ecstatic to celebrate this proud community on Friday night as the blue and white host the Seattle Thunderbirds.

The night is to recognize the contributions First Nations and Mtis people have given to the WHL and to the Southern Saskatchewan hockey community. Come to the rink early because, the opening ceremonies will be a showcase of First Nations music, dance and pageantry:

Buffalo Lodge Drum Group

World famous hoop dancer Terrance Littletent will be performing.

Kawacatoos Boys Drum Group

Stacey Cyr will sing the Canadian National Anthem in Cree

The intermission will see players from the Team Sask. 1stNations team compete in a skills competition.

"As an organization we are pleased to join with Aboriginal leaders from around the province and the various levels of government to recognize the influence of the native community on hockey in our region" commented Regina Pats President, Brent Parker. "To have some of these young people in attendance on this night that ordinarily would not get an opportunity to attend a WHL game is a great way for us continue to give back to our community."
