The Lowdown

This This will be the only time the Pats and Portland Winterhawks will meet this season. In their only game in 2009-10 was in Portland with the Pats coming up with a convincing 6-3 victory over the Winterhawks. Hampus Gustafsson had 2 goals and an assist, Brandon Davidson picked up 3 helpers and was a +4. Also contributing to the Pats win was Tomas Hricina with his 2 goals, Cody Carlson with a pair of assists, while Damien Ketlo stopped 38 of 41 Winterhawk shots

Tonight is also "Essential Services Night" as anyone wearing their military, police, or emergency service uniform will get half off their ticket at the door.

With just 2 losses this season, the Portland Winterhawks are the top team in the Western Hockey League and one of the top teams in the CHL. They have had 10 players drafted into the NHL over the past two years including a pair of 2010 first rounder's in Ryan Johansen (4th CBJ) Nino Niederreiter (5th NYI). The young players are carrying their load as well in 2008 WHL 2nd overall Bantam pick Ty Rattie and 2009 WHL 1st overall pick Derek Poulliot.

RW - Ty Rattie - The 17 year old forward is currently 3rd in the WHL in scoring and is pegged as a top 10 pick in the upcoming 2011 NHL Entry Draft

LW - Sven Bartschi - The 18 year old Swiss rookie is tied for 6th in the WHL in scoring with 27 points

LW - Brad Ross - The brother of former Regina Pat defenceman Nick Ross is a 2nd round pick of the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 2010 NHL Draft

C - Chandler Stephenson - The 16 year old rookie centre scored his first two WHL goals Sunday night against the Brandon Wheat Kings

D - Myles Bell - The defenceman is third on the team in scoring with 14 points and has a club best +9.

G - Matt Hewitt - Picked up his second win of the season Sunday night. He is also leading the Pats in GAA with a 3.28 average.

This Time Last Season:

The Pats hit the quarter point of the season with their win over the Brandon Wheat Kings Sunday night and sit at 6-10-1-1, just one win behind last season's pace of 7-9-2-0

The Seattle Thunderbirds will make their only visit of the season on Friday night. They are led by one of the top goalies in the WHL in Calvin Pickard. He has played in every minute of every game this season for Seattle and is gunning for one of the goaltending spots with the Canadian National Junior Team.
