Reading, PA - The Reading Fightin Phils (7-5) scored four runs early on and defeated the Portland Sea Dogs (3-7), 4-1, Saturday night at FirstEnergy Stadium. Reading has taken the first three games of the series.

Fightins lefty Damon Jones (1-0) earned his first Double-A win, working six innings on four hits, one run, three walks, and six strikeouts. Portland scored their lone run in the fourth inning when Tate Matheny doubled, stole third base, and scored on a wild pitch.

RHP Kutter Crawford (0-1) was saddled with the loss, allowing four runs on four hits over 2.2 innings pitched. Crawford issued four walks but fanned five.

Reading took a 2-0 lead in the first inning on a two-run shot by Alec Bohm. Bohm nailed an RBI single as part of a two-run third inning.

RHP Konner Wade worked 4.1 innings of scoreless relief on just one hit. RHP Eduard Bazardo worked a scoreless eighth.

Reading closed out the win with three scoreless frames from their bullpen. RHP Addison Russ picked up the save by fanning the side.

Portland and the Reading Fightin Phils (Phillies affiliate) wrap-up their four-game series on Sunday night with a 5:15 PM start from FirstEnergy Stadium. LHP Matthew Kent (3-2, 2.86) makes his seventh start of the season for Portland and Reading counters with LHP Brady Falter (5-5, 4.41).
