Trenton Thunder News Release
A go-ahead three-run homer in the sixth inning by Kellin Deglan helped El Trueno de Trenton to a 5-2 win over Los Gatos Feroces de New Hampshire in front of a crowd of 5,643 on Saturday night at ARM & HAMMER Park.
Deglan's three-run blast came off New Hampshire (4-7, 35-43) starter Zach Logue (3-5), following a single by Ben Ruta and a Chris Gittens walk. The homer gave the Trueno catcher a hit in 13 of his last 15 games.
After Logue and Trueno starter Brian Keller turned in a scoreless duel through the first three innings, Ben Ruta knocked a solo homer to right field leading off the bottom of the fourth for a 1-0 Trueno (6-5, 44-32) lead.
But New Hampshire immediately jumped in front in the fifth. Chad Spanberger singled and Vinny Capra reached on an error, and after a walk loaded the bases, Nash Knight brought home the tying run on a fielder's choice grounder. Brock Lundquist followed with a soft grounder to third that scored Capra as the go-ahead run.
Brady Lail (3-1) took over for the Trueno to begin the sixth and provided two and two-third innings of scoreless relief, striking out seven batters to match the season-high mark for a Thunder reliever. Brooks Kriske pitched the final inning and one-third to record the save.
The three Trueno pitchers combined to walk just one batter while striking out 17, just two shy of the season-high.
Kyle Holder went 1-for-3 with a walk for the Trueno, extending his team-best on-base streak to 16 games, and a seventh-inning RBI-double by Hoy Jun Park gave Park his first extra-base hit since May 31.
Your Thunder conclude their homestand on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. against the Fisher Cats. The Thunder have yet to announce their starting pitcher, while RHP Justin Dillon (1-0, 0.00) will go for New Hampshire. The first 1,000 kids ages 5 to 13 will receive a Gleyber Torres replica jersey, presented by Berkshire Bank. Tickets are available by phone at 609-394-3300 or online at TrentonThunder.com.
