Reading Royals News Release

TOP NOTES OF THE WEEK

1. The Royals took all three games played against the Trenton Devils this past weekend (3-0-0-0). Reading has compiled a 6-0-0-0 record against the Devils this season- although one of those wins was in a shootout (11/14) and Sunday's game went to overtime for resolution. Last season the Royals went 3-9-2 against the Devils, which included losing the final 6 games played against Trenton last year. The Royals and Devils play 8 more times this season (14 total regular season games).

2. All three victories registered by the Royals this week were decided by one goal (and five of the six games played against the Devils this year have been one-goal deci- sions). So far this season, 11 of the 23 games played by the Royals have been decided by one goal, and the Royals have compiled a record of 9-0-1-1 in those games.

3. In Friday's 5-4 win in Trenton, the Royals trailed the Devils at two different points of the game (at 1-0 and 2-1). That game marked the eighth time this season (out of the team's thirteen wins) that the Royals have had to battle back from an in-game deficit to pick up the two points.

4. In Saturday's 3-2 win and Sunday's 4-3 overtime victory against the Devils, the Royals scored the game's first goal. On Saturday, it was Rob LaLonde, who was playing in his first game since missing a string of sixteen consecutive games to the injured reserve, who scored the game's first goal (which was also the 'Teddy Bear Toss' goal for the Royals this season); and on Sunday, it was Daniel Steiner who scored his first North American 'first goal'. Reading has now scored the game's first goal in nine of the twenty-three games played this year-and nine different players have scored those 'first goals'. The Royals have compiled a record of 7-0-1-1 in those games in which the team racked up the 'first goal'.

5. Ben Gordon is currently riding a team season-long seven game point streak (3g-9a=12pts), as well as a three game assist streak-and a three game multi-point streak. In his last sixteen games, Gordon has only been held off the point sheet twice, and he has racked up a total of twenty-four points in that time span (9g-15a). Gordon leads the Royals with eleven multi-point games in twenty-one played this year.

6. Ryan Cruthers is also riding a seven game point streak for the Royals (3g-6a=9pts), as well as a four game assist streak. Cruthers, who registered his sixth multi-point game of the year by scoring a goal and picking up an assist on Sunday, has picked up at least one point in twelve of his last thirteen games (6g-14a=20pts).

7. Daniel Steiner rang off three consecutive two point games this past week. Steiner, who is currently riding a three game goal scoring streak (4g), scored his first North American game winner-and racked up his first North American multi-goal performance-in Saturday's 3-2 victory over Trenton. On Sunday, Steiner scored his first North American 'first goal' in the Royals' 4-3 overtime victory over the Devils. Steiner, who has picked up at least one point in twelve of the sixteen games he's played for Read- ing this year, has rung off eight multi-point performances this season with Reading.

8. Charlie Kronschnabel scored what proved to be his second game winner of the season, when he bagged the Royals' fifth goal in Friday's 5-4 win in Trenton. Kronschna- bel has now scored three game winners for the Royals in his two seasons with the team-and all three of those GWGs have come against the Devils.

9. Danick Bouchard scored a pair of power play goals in Friday's 5-4 win in Trenton. That marked Bouchard's first multi-goal game of the season-and third multi-point performance over a span of four games. Six of Bouchard's seven goals have been scored while the team was playing with the man advantage. Last season, in fifty-six games with the Florida Everblades (before being acquired by the Royals late in the season), nine of Bouchard's eighteen goals were scored on the power play.

10. Goaltender Matt Dalton picked up a pair of wins this week, stopping 39 of the 43 shots he faced in Trenton on Friday and 37 of the 40 fired on him in Sunday's over- time win. For Dalton, who has registered four wins against the Devils this year, he has faced forty or more shots in five of his nine starts with the Royals this year-and he has won four of those games.

10. The Royals power play struck for three goals for the first time this season in Friday's 5-4 win in Trenton. Coming into that game, the Royals power play had been held to just 3 goals in 25 chances with the man advantage over the team's previous 5 games (12.0% scoring ratio) (during which the Royals went 1-4-0-0). Although the power play was held off the board (0-5) in Sunday's overtime win, the Royals did get what proved to be the game winner on Saturday night while playing with the man advan- tage. Over the course of the season, the Royals have now scored 21 power play goals in 134 chances with the man advantage, which a 15.7% scoring ratio-which is sev- enteenth in the league. Pat Richards Stat of the Week: When Royals score a power play goal, the team is 11-1-1-1; when the team doesn't, the record is: 2-7-0-0.

CLOSING NOTES

1. Sunday's game marked the 95th regular season meeting between Reading and Trenton (which is the most games the Royals have played against any one other team). Reading has compiled an overall record of 44-41-10 against Trenton.

2. The Royals and Devils were tied at three when they entered the third period in last Friday's 5-4 win for the Royals. That game marked the sixth time this season that Reading has entered the third period tied with the opposition, and the Roy- als have compiled a record of 4-0-1-1 in those games.

3. Reading held a lead as the team entered the third period on both Saturday (3- 1) and Sunday (3-0) against Trenton. The Royals have now held the lead eight times as they entered the third this year, and the team has compiled a record of 8 -0-0-0 in those games.

4. The Royals penalty killers allowed two power play goals against this past week- end in fourteen chances with the man advantage for the Devils, which is an 85.7% kill ratio. Over the course of the season, Reading is killing at a ratio of 78.4% (15 PPGA in 116 chances for the opposition), which is seventeenth in the league.

5. Beau Erickson, who re-joined the Royals last Sunday after being released by the team in early November, picked up his third win for Reading on Saturday night, when he stopped 34 of the 36 shots he faced in the Royals' 3-2 win. That equaled the fewest goals allowed by a Royals' goaltender this season. (The Royals have held the opposition to two goals five times this season and won all five of those games).

6. Joey Ryan scored the twenty-fifth overtime game winner in the nine year his- tory of the Royals 1:33 into OT in Sunday's 4-3 win for the Royals. The last OT GWG for Reading was also scored in Trenton-by PatrickWellar 3:12 into OT on February 7, 2009 to give the Royals a 6-5 victory. Only two players in Royals' team history have scored more than one OT GWG: John Morlang and Dany Roussin.
