Everblades Finish Off Road Trip To The North

The Everblades began the week with their final meeting of the regular season in Toledo. The game marked the 8th meeting between the two clubs this season. Toledo broke a four-game winless streak against the 'Blades to post a 3-2 victory. The Everblades finished the season series against the Walleye with a 5-2-1 record. Florida traveled down I-75 with back-to-back meetings in Cincinnati on Friday and Saturday night. Cincinnati prevailed in a shootout Friday night, 2-1. Saturday night the Cyclones held Florida scoreless for the first time this season, 3-0.

The Everblades return home after a two-week road trip with six straight games at home. The 'Blades skate back into divisional play with three games this week against the Charlotte Checkers. Florida and Charlotte play on Wednesday, December 9, Friday, December 11 and finish off the week on Saturday, December 12.

LAST WEEK

Wednesday, December 2 @ Toledo Lucas County Arena 7:05PM

GAME NOTES: In the final meeting of the season between these clubs, Toledo ended their drought against Florida winning 3-2 in regulation. The Walleye dominated the game until just past the midway point of the third period. Colin Nicholson and Jordan Morrison scored 43-seconds apart to make things interesting for the final seven minutes, but the Blades could get no closer.

Friday, December 4 @ Cincinnati US Bank Arena 7:30PM

GAME NOTES: The first of two outings against Cincinnati went the way of the Cyclones 2-1 in shootout. Cincinnati converted two of four shooters in the shootout while the Everblades were blanked by Cincy goaltender Mark Dekanich in four opportunities. Ross Carlson tied the game at one in the third period to account for the lone Florida goal.

Saturday, December 5 @ Cincinnati US Bank Arena 7:30PM

GAME NOTES: For the first time this season the Everblades were kept off the scoreboard. Cincinnati beat Florida 3-0 behind a 27-save shutout performance by netminder Mark Dekanich. Cincinnati scored three goals in a two-minute span to secure the victory. Florida finished their longest road trip to date at 3-2-2.

Wednesday, December 9 vs Charlotte Germain Arena 7:30PM

GAME NOTES: This is the fifth of a scheduled fourteen regular season meetings between the two clubs. The Everblades battled the Checkers at Germain Arena for their opening weekend at home and split with the Checkers. The 'Blades beat the Checkers 5-3 in their home opener on October 23, while the Checkers doubled up the Everblades the following night, 4-2.

Friday, December 11 vs Charlotte Germain Arena 7:30PM

GAME NOTES: The Everblades are 1-1-0 at home against Charlotte and 2-1-1 overall. Jacob Micflikier leads all scorers in this series with five goals and ten points in just three games against the Checkers, including a hat trick and six points on November 5 in the Blades 7-0 victory.

Saturday, December 12 vs Charlotte Germain Arena 7:30PM

GAME NOTES: The Checkers and Everblades meet for the seventh time and fifth in Germain Arena. This marks the halfway point in the season series. Tonight is the annual Teddy Bear Toss. Fans will be encouraged to bring teddy bears to the game and throw the bears on the ice after the Everblades first goal.

Barry Brust appeared in two games this week. Wednesday in Toledo, Brust relieved Mike Morrison and played 34:34 and stopped 14 of 14 shots in the Blades 3-2 loss. The Manitoba native started on Friday and was solid stopping 23 of 24 shots in regulation and overtime and two of four shooters in the shootout.

Forward Ross Carlson has been one of the most consistent scorers over the past seven games for Florida. In the Everblades game in Toledo on Wednesday, Carlson chipped in an assist and finished even. On Friday, Carlson's goal in the third period tied the game to send the game to a shootout where the Everblades lost 2-1 in a shootout to Cincinnati.

Bring a box of Mac & Cheese to the game and use it as a noisemaker to cheer on your Everblades, then after the game drop your box of Mac & Cheese into the Harry Chapin Food Bank bin to help fight hunger in Southwest Florida!

TEDDY BEAR TOSS - Florida and Charlotte meet for the final time this week on Saturday, December 12. Fans are encouraged to bring a teddy bear to the game and will toss the bears on the ice after Florida's first goal. The teddy bears will be collected and donated to the Children's hospital of Southwest Florida.
